Privacy policy

No legalese. This is exactly what data I collect, why, and what I do with it.

Who I am

Loxvik Web Design is a web design business run by Oliver Palmer, based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. For anything in this policy, I'm the "data controller" — which just means I'm responsible for the data you share with me. You can reach me at oliver@loxvik.co.uk.

What I collect, and why

Contact form

If you send an enquiry through the contact form, I collect your name, email address, and message. I use these to reply to you. That's it.

Free tools

If you use one of the free tools (the revenue calculator or competitor comparison), I collect your name, email address, business name if you give it, and the numbers or website addresses you enter. I use these to send you the report you asked for, and to send you occasional practical website advice afterwards. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes one click.

Discovery calls

If you book a call, Calendly collects your name, email, and any answers you give to booking questions, and shares them with me so I can run the call.

Analytics

I use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use this site — which pages get visited, where visitors come from, and which buttons get clicked. This data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally. I use it to make the site better.

The legal basis

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), I rely on legitimate interest to respond to enquiries and send you the reports you request, and on the soft opt-in rules to send follow-up advice to people who've used the free tools — always with a clear way to opt out. Analytics runs on legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.

Who else touches your data

I use a small number of services to run this site. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

  • Cloudflare — hosts this website and processes form submissions.
  • Resend — delivers transactional emails (your reports, enquiry confirmations).
  • Mailchimp — stores the email list for follow-up advice emails.
  • Calendly — handles discovery call bookings.
  • Google — Analytics 4 (site usage) and PageSpeed Insights (the competitor tool sends the website addresses you enter to Google to be analysed — these are URLs, not personal data).

I never sell your data, and I never share it with anyone beyond the services listed above.

How long I keep it

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as is useful for our conversation and any work that follows. If you're on the advice email list, your details stay there until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for 14 months, Google's default.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time to show you the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Just email oliver@loxvik.co.uk and I'll sort it — usually same day, always within a month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle data, I'll update this page and the date at the top. I won't quietly change things and hope you don't notice.
